Prioritising learning
At Enhance we prioritise learning and growth. This is not only professional growth as clinicians and people, but also the whole profession of musculoskeletal care. We offer placements, observational opportunities and free workshops whenever we can so we can pass one knowledge, experience and mistakes to progress the field forward.
We have been partners with Swinburne University for two years now. We offer a Work Integrating Learning (WIL) placement. This opportunity embeds the student into Enhance's daily operations. By immersing the future clinician in the clinic, that see what private practice life is like "warts and all." It offers an opportunity for students to learn more than clinical skills, and foster a relationship with a company they may just want to work at when they complete their studies.
Our two students so far have been an absolute pleasure to work with. We hope to continue this program going forward! Here is a little take from Ricki, our most recent student.
My name is Ricki, I work in Strength and Conditioning and I am currently 6 months into my first year of a Master of Physiotherapy degree at Swinburne University of Technology. Over the last 8 weeks I've had the pleasure of undergoing placement with Enhance Sports Physiotherapy.
Throughout the experience I had the chance to spend time observing Dave, Brenton, Jess and Joseph.
"Working with all practitioners in the clinic was an insightful experience as I could view the similarities and differences in their clinical reasoning."
Being fairly new to my degree, I didn't know what to expect out of my first placement. I was really impressed with the time and care that each practitioner took to answer my questions and explain their clinical reasoning.
What I found unique about Enhance was that each practitioner who worked there also had other roles outside of this clinic.
"I was fortunate to be able to experience multiple physiotherapy environments included sports clubs, orthopaedic surgery clinics and biomechanical testing facilities."
I've been able to build a lot of confidence through the direction provided by everyone at Enhance and it has taken a lot of the 'scaries' away from applying the theoretical in practical settings. I look forward to applying the lessons I took away from the experience to the rest of my studies.
Thank you to everyone at Enhance for making me feel welcome and sharing your knowledge!
