Our Approach

Our Goal Is to Keep You Running

01

Modify

Adjust volume, pace, frequency or terrain where needed rather than automatically stopping running.

02

Rebuild

Use progressive strength and tissue loading to restore the capacity your running demands.

03

Return

Build back towards your normal weekly training, target distance or upcoming event with a structured progression.

Hands-on treatment can be useful for settling symptoms, but long-term improvement comes from rebuilding the capacity to run.

Assessment

More Than Just Looking at Your Running Style

Running injuries are rarely explained by one thing. We look at your training history, diagnosis, strength, tissue capacity and running demands to understand what is contributing to the problem.

Where useful, we can assess your running outdoors or review footage from your normal training environment. Objective strength and force-plate testing can also help identify deficits and give us something meaningful to retest as rehabilitation progresses.

Community

We Work With Your Coach

Most runners already have a training plan, coach or club they care about. With your consent, we can communicate with your running coach or strength and conditioning coach so your rehabilitation and training plan work together rather than competing with each other.

Our relationship with Strides Run Club has included running education, performance testing and community collaboration through our Essendon clinic.

Your First Appointment

Leave With a Clear Plan

Your first appointment is a physiotherapy assessment, not a generic running screen. We want you to leave knowing:

  • What we think the injury is
  • Why it has developed
  • What you can keep doing
  • What needs to improve
  • How you will progress back towards your running goal

After your initial appointment, we also provide a written summary of the assessment, testing and rehabilitation plan so you don't have to remember everything discussed in the room.
